When gas prices yo-yo like they have this year – this week, they’re sharply down – almost everyone has fuel efficiency on their minds. But Hyundai wants Washington to have it in the forefront of theirs this August.

The South Korean car company is encouraging Americans to sign a petition to make August National Fuel Efficiency Month – a move they hope will bring attention to the environmental and economic effects of driving cars that conserve more gas.

Fuel efficiency is about much more than simply driving a fuel economical vehicle, Hyundai points out. Keeping tires properly inflated, keeping up with car maintenance, changing gas pedal-heavy driving habits and more can all contribute to getting more mileage for your fuel buck.
