Hyundai Calls for a Month Dedicated to Fuel Efficiency

Would you support a month dedicated to encouraging drivers to achieve better fuel economy? We do!

Hyundai Motor Company yesterday asked supporters and consumers to sign onto a petition asking the White House to establish a national fuel efficiency month. Summer is characterized by road trips, long drives and vacations, all which lead to more time on the road. Hyundai, one of our members, wants to highlight August as a month of awareness to remind Americans of the environmental and economic benefits of driving more fuel efficiently.

The car maker’s president and CEO, John Krafcik, stressed that driving more fuel efficiently is not solely reserved for owners of advanced technology vehicles. Any driver of any vehicle has the opportunity to make minor adjustments to their driving habits to get more miles to the gallon and lessen their environmental impact.

The program includes information ranging from keeping your tires properly inflated and utilizing cruise control to advice on purchasing a new, more fuel efficient vehicle. From minor changes to big purchases, we at Global Automakers agree that every driver could use more information about more ways to achieve greater fuel efficiency, reduce greenhouse gas emissions and save dollars at the pump.

Follow our lead and help Hyundai’s vision of a more fuel efficient America come true by signing the petition by July 4, 2012.
